What’s in a name?

The decision of whether to use a pen name when you publish is an important one for any writer. Especially in the current self-publishing climate, personal author branding is vital. Not only is there the issue of websites and domain names, but you don’t want to have a name that is too similar to another author–especially if they are writing in a similar genre.

For some writers, the most important issue is having a name that sounds good. For marketing it’s important to be memorable, pronounceable, and reasonably unique.
